hi i was after a new engine, i could not make my mind up but have decided to go for the novarossi 57 with the outrage 56 pipe as i have read some good reports on other forums, i decided on the outrage pipe as it is ment to keep the noise levels down as i have been told the 57 can be noisy, so it will be interesting and also outrage offer a 50% discount on a new pipe if you damage the one you have in a crash which i think is brilliant, so for 216 pounds all in i think it is a good price

It's about time the manufacturers started to help out with the crash costs, maybe others will follow.

I will be very interested to listern to the tone of your new pipe alex.
Not sure if you know but Matthews Trex 600 has the Nova Rossi 57 in it. He had had his engine running for approx four gallons, well ran in and mega powerful.

Only issue I have is that the Nova Rossi pipe that I went for is darn noisey and rather unpleasant to be honest!!.

Will you have your Nova Rossi up and running soon as I really need to listern to that pipe to know if I shall purchase one for Mat?

hi simon, the nova was running today at the field, seemed to have lots off power so early on in the running in aswell, i only did three tanks so plenty off running in left to do, i am not sure what matts sounds like but it is not mega quiet, on par with stans ys56 but with a different sort off exhaust tone, but it was running mega rich so we will have to see, i will be there next sunday so if you up you can see and compare

Hi,

Seems that these Novarossi's are a nice engine, Alex's was sweet, that third flight of chucking it a round the sky was probably a little early and the engine is still way rich but boy did it have some power at the early stages. I must say it has a nicer sound to my ys and gp exhaust. But it is still noisey as hell. Mine is a very high pitch 2 strokey noise where as alex's is slightly quieter deeper tone. I would certainly be interested in trying out your Outage 56 pipe on the ys maybe? smilie

Yoh guys.

Well I was in Midland Helicopters during Saturday with mark. While in there we mentioned the YS and the nova rossie. Trevor suggested the GP pipe for Matthew's Nova Rossie. I said that we found the tone a little too harsh compared to the Muscle pipe and even the West pipes.

Trevor said that the feed back he has recieved from one seriously reputable talented pilot, is that the GP pipe is almost as quiet as a Zimmerman. I showed amazement at that and wonder just why Stans does have that slightly harsh tone.

Matthews Nova Rossi is pretty ran in now and mat has in the past given it some serious hell and it does come back for more. Mat hammers his Nova Rossi doing all sorts of metronoming combinations with heavy twists and turns it does keep giving the torque.

What we found is that while running it in rich its fine. In that you don't expect it to run totally smooth as you intend it to be sounding rich and slightly uneven.

Its when you have done that half or full gallon, the engine is ran in and you want to set it to a smoother run rather than the over rich run.
Then you find that the settings are changable. One day it is a touch lean and the next it is rich. And we do find that being such a powerful, slightly harsh engine, it gets through plugs once ran in and worked hard!.

I will soon be replacing one of my west engines with a YS56. The west in question has had 4 years running and has naturally began to loose the power it used to have. And also, the west when worked also tends to take plugs out.

I am unsure which pipe I will fit on the YS but I know for sure it WON'T be the GP. I might even go for the zimmerman because I know the tone will be quiet and soft. And I feel sure that from past experience of a Zimmerman, they don't stifel the power much either.

I do hope we can get out next weekend. I was intending to go flying today but ended up having to fix several rather anoying problems with my new car, then cleaning Debbies which was in a digusting state. (things we have to do sometimes eh).

Yoh,

Ummm..... Slightly annoyed that i was persuaded to buy the Gp exhuast, when i was planning on using a Hator *566. The chap that told me this also said that he was running it on his machine. Turns out he is using a different pipe and hasnt actually used it yet. Such a shame people have to lie, If he was honest and said look its a new pipe its meant to be good give it a try. smilie smilie

Anyway moving on....... Well i shall certainly take you up on that offer alex. Pretty sure your outrage pipe will be a little harsh with the Ys too. Be nice if i could get hold of an hatori to try rather than forking out 127.99.

Amongst all of the noise and smoke that this Ys generates, it certainly seems to have the power and very consitent throughout the tank, guess thats down to the presurissed fuel system. I can compare its power to when my redline was stonking with the mp5. I must of been enjoying it having to auto after running out of fuel smilie smilie

no problem stan, just hope the weathers ok on wednesday smilie
makes you wonder why these people lie, they must make more on certain things smilie
as long as your ys is running who cares about the noise as long as its kicking ass smilie but it would be interesting if the outrage pipe makes a difference i could even try your pipe to see what its like on the novarossi smilie

Yoh guys.

My Trex 700 is in Midland and up for sale as of yesterday. I have set the price at under Trevors estimated value and feel confident it will sell to an interested pilot very soon. My models have always flown out (excuse the pun).

When its gone I will be having at least one YS56. And I will buy either a Hitori or Zimmerman pipe. Most probably a Hatori, but I will need to find out which one is best suited to the YS56. Do you know it is a 566 stan or is there a choice of Hatori ?

I will also be buying a flybar less align unit. Both the engine and the head will be fitted to Matthews machine. (the lucky lad does not know it yet).
We shall then see how much power it gives compared to a West when at it's peak, and the Nova Rossi 57 that matthews currently uses.

If the YS56 pipe and head combination all works great, I will buy another set for my heli. Probably to be fitted to my Super Pro.

So hoping my 700 goes real quick so I can join in with this new engine / pipe experimentation. Between us I am sure we can find the best combination. Hang fire stan as I will no doubt get an Hatori, so we can all hear and compare....
