New spartan editor software

I just downloaded Spartan's new interface software from their website. This is free and found on the DS760 gyro page.
You need to also download their "Firmware uploader" so that you can get the latest software and update your gyro. The interface editor software tells you to ensure you have the latest firmware which initially i did not.
So I have downloaded that, updated the gyro, re calibrated it and the ran the new interface software.
Its clear, simple with no frills. I have reduced my rudder exponential from -50 to -45 to see how that goes and reduced the stop gains a tad from the default 100, to 90.
I can now play with the stops to match my heli. I have to say that out of the box, my spartan ds760 is incredible and does not really need tweaking, but seeing as there is a slight bounce on one pirouette direction, I might as well have a play.. Here is a screen shot of the interface software.

Spartan release the usb link

If any one has a Spartan ds760 gyro you might be interested in the new USB link that has just been released.
I bought one from "Midland helicopters". Currently, you can download what they call the "Firmware uploader". Once on your computer, installed and connected to your Spartan, you can then check live on the internet to see if they have written new main core software for the gyro and update it if required.

My first Spartan did not allow for servos like the 8700g. I noticed that the new firmware has been improved to allow for these with an extra setup option. To be able to update the main core firmware on your own computer, live online is a first i think.

I was told that the software is about to be released so you can alter many internal settings using this USB interface. I hope this is the case but I am a tad concerned because i see a small hand held unit that apparently will connnect to the gyro anywhere, allowing you to change such settings without needing a laptop etc.

So if you do have a spartan DS760, I would suggest you contact Midland helis and order one up..

Gyro library becomes dynamic

We have just changed the gyro section within our MHC Library.
The LIbrary is accessed off the home page and is intended to become the biggest product information / archive on the internet for heli products world wide.

As time allows we continue to trawl the internet and publications past and present. Previously, the gyro section was a simple HTML drawn page for each brand. Now this is interactive allowing us to bring far more gyros back to you all. In many cases we provide manuals in PDF or .doc format and if a product is for sale in our Classifieds, or a member has entered a model using this item, it tells you this and links to both sections.

So maybe go check it out and see just how many brands of gyro we have found so far. If you find that we have missed a brand or gyro out, or you have the manual of any gyro that we don't have, please post / comment here, and let us and others know. We can then find a way to gain a copy of any details or manuals you have and include them in the gyro Library?

So do let us know and we hope you enjoy looking at past and present heli products.

Admin. (The Library will swell to include other items, like transmitters, servos, receivers.)

Spartan ds760

Just a quick post here to say that I would like to thank Trevor at Midland for suggesting that I try the latest Spartan Gyro and return my feedback for him.

I can't believe how good this unit is at this initial stage.
I went to the field today and it is windy. I gave that poor Align as much agressive abuse as my old brain could keep up with.
Simply put
It is as consistant, if not more so regarding pirouette rate control compared to the csm720.
It is as tollerant as the best futaba gyros regarding the heli setup and vibes.

No kicking about.. nailed on a rail and incredibly consistent.
I am a little dumb struck at the moment with it's performance. I mean, it is tiny notihng of a plastic one piece module yet stunning.

More time required to try and find any faults but at the moment I don't see where they can come from. Only possibles are if the temperature of the day was very hot rather then the cool days we are currently having. But I assume I will have to wait 6 months of more to try the hotter weather performance.

More playing to be had, but don't dismiss this gyro when you see it, its incredible!.
