3dmasters washed out for friday

HI.
Today saw the UK weather forecasters to be VERY correct unfortunitly.
We got to the site for 8.30am, to find a moderate rain fall. Things did not change through out the morning, but as the afternoon started, the wind came up and rain became extreme!!!

Collin Mill of CSM gave a seminar in a marque behind the pits.
Two brave soles had a little fly during the morning. Adam Crane was one pilot doing nice 3d and the other was a SIX YEAR OLD lad from Israel.
Now you would not believe this little lads flying. He is masters class standard almost, as he gave a Vibe a good work out. Apparently he flys with Chen and Nir who have both come over to battle it out in the masters class.

All the Usual stalls are on site, including Real Raptors, Skyline, Climbout, Century, Midland Helicopters, Revolution Models etc.
I spotted a few Align 600 pro and sport kits in the stalls. I would not think they will last long once Saturday starts as there are some pilots still on a waiting list. So any one waiting for one or interested, get your self down their early on Saturday and snap one up.
Climbout have a nice display showing their Synergy and Knight with sexy new glass canopy, looking GOOD smilie

We are told that the weather forecast is more "reasonable" for Saturday and Sunday so we hope to get some of the competition completed over those two days.
Currently we have decided to drop the sportsmans and Experts Freestyle rounds from the Saturdays flying as we simply can't fly all the schedule as it stood and include all of Fridays flying aswell.

Things became a little serious at one point this afternoon as the wind howled in and ripped the catering tent on the flight line, clear away. The tea urn full of boiling water flew across the table, luckly missing any one. The only slight casualty, other than the tent itself being destroyed was my lad Matthew, whom got a right good smack on the head from the metal poles as the tent was torn from the ground. St johns Ambulence came over quickly, assessed him, calming him down and offering assurance and comfort. (THANKS from me for that!)

Cool power arrived from Germany this morning and was delivered during the lunch period. Previously fuel would have been a little tight for the pilots. Thanks apparently go to Dave fisher who kindly brought 16 gallons to the site to keep pilots flying if the weather came good.

Final call to cancel all possible flying for Friday came from Chris Dickens, Flight Line Director at approx 2.30pm. Such a shame but the event will go on over the two following days.
All pilots have flown around the world and are ready to go. I had the pleasure of meeting many friends from previous 3dmasters, such as Curtis, Peter Navotny, Kjetil Strom, Steve Gerrard Nir Miria, Chen and so many more.
If you or any of your friends are planning to come to 3dmasters, we feel sure the weather will allow plenty of good competiion flying and the stalls are all their too. You might want to bring a substantial Unbarella along with some wellies!. As the field will be a little "soggy" under foot.

Cheers for now

OK, I'll be the one who starts off this thread.
Who's going to The Masters?

I'll be there from Friday afternoon after I've driven from Loughborough to Rhyl then to Pudsey in Leeds then back home, pick up my Sonm and we will be on our way. Caravan in tow hopefully.

Help needed

Hello having a problem.................... I am new to heli's so not quite sure if its me or the heli...

This problem happens everytime I have it out. I have it fully charged and everytime I try and fly it, it gets about 1 foot of the air (sometimes not even) and the main blades cut out. I know its not the receiver as I can still control the servo's. I can have her sitting on the verge of taking of and thats no problem but as soon as it trys to fly the main rotor dies.

I could be barking up the wrong tree but I am thinking 2 possible reasons, either I have a switch wrong on the transmitter, or I am doing something competly silly. Another reason I can think of is that with the training balls, its too heavy and overloading the motor causing it to cut out (tho the first day I had her out it was grand and I have seen it flying with the traing balls with no problems)

any help greatly appreciated

Hi

Not sure if im writting this in the right section, but here goes anyway.

After a crash of my sceadu from a poor maintained engine and a totally written off millenium i though my luck couldnt have got any worse. I took my time to check through everything i could on my rebuilt sceadu, but i missed a screw on a servo horn and it popped off during a test flight with my new engine causing full left aileron and full pitch into the deck. I couldnt believe it.

I thought that was it for another week or so, back to the drawing board for me. But NO, The great guys i fly with at the Peatling club in Leicester offered to rebuild it for me there and then. This was a pretty big rebuild as the servo tray had snapped off so all electronics had to be taken off and transfferd to a new servo tray plus all the usual mainshaft, feathering spindle boom ect......

So i dashed off to midland to get the bits and by the time i was back, it was all stripped down and ready for some fresh parts. An hour later these great guys had built me a fantastic flying model.

Thanks Si, Mark, phil ect.... I cant thank you enough for all the help recieved.

Catch ya when i get back from Turkey

Slight changes to the site

Hi.
I have attempted to improve one aspect of the site. I think I have, but time will tell.

Basically, because there is so much going on with each page, previously when you went from page to page navigating around, the page loading was far to slow.
So some time back I split the screen into what they call "Frames". So the only bit that changes is the middle, thus speeding the whole site up.
Ok, that worked fine, but then the left and right sides would never change, so if there was an extra PM coming in, or additions of threads of posts, then you won't know unless you refresh the whole browser yourself.
I added auto refreshes to both sides to sort that.
Problem then was that while typing messages either to a forum or PM the site would sort of "stutter" while those auto refreshes worked.
I have changed this so that the only time the sides refresh is where there is a change in posts, threads or PM counts.
It seams to work at my end so I hope it is better for all.

As always, feedback is so usefull in any area of the site, and I hope this makes things just a little bit better.
Cheers

Hi.
Thanks to our member "Simon_S" for pointing out the North Notts fly-in dates.
We have entered their event into our calender with contact details and general information taken from their website.

We will no doubt be there with video in hand to get all the cool flying and atmosphere. This event has grown over the years to become one of the main event in our UK heli calender.

Don't miss it guys.

We will send a reminder email to all members during the week prior to the event, with enough time for you to be able to make your excuses to get your passes out. smilie

For a quick link, here is their website address (also in the calender)
www.nnmfc.org.uk" target="_blank">Click_here

If any one knows of a heli event that is not listed in our calender, or a main event fly-in that warrents it's own dedicated forum on the right forum listings, please give us the heads up on it.. Either by using the 'Contact us' link at the top of each page, or by PM to sbrown5925 or adminmain.
