I figured it out. It occured to me what is going on with me at the moment regarding my current heli interests.
About three years ago, I just decided that I fancied trying to find an example of my first helis. After some waiting and bidding, I managed to pick up a couple of Kalt Cyclone helicopters and made one good example from the two.
Then I looked for another past model of mine.. A Kalt Omega Pro which I now have one in pretty good condition. After that I bought a couple of Kalt space barons. One ok and one well busted and made one from the two again...
Latest one I found is the BBC Hirobo Stork 46. Just finished it and test flew it.

I reckon I must be trying to re visit my late teens and early twenties with these past models I had back then.

I wonder if any one else has done this or maybe gone places, done things or bought items from your past, now you have arrived at 40 plus years??

Si.

An open letter to the RC helicopter community.

The RC helicopter world has just suffered another loss of one of our pioneers from the early days. From a personal view I will always regret not meeting him to discuss RC helicopter history as I had planned in 2009 and that opportunity is now gone.

As a sport/hobby call it what you will we are very poor in promoting our ‘own’ outside of our relatively small ‘circle’. Put in a Google search for Jim Morley and prior to the last few days the first hit for our man was for my vintage helicopter website followed by a few forum threads; and that was it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Morley helicopters, love em, or hate em, there was no denying that Jim was a formative force during the early years of RC helicopters; especially in the UK. It has happened in the past with the likes of John Simone, John Gorham, Hiroyuki Oki, etc, etc. Very well known but memories of them fading with each year after their passing and it will happen again until finally it will get to JIM Who??

I will put forward the plea that this must not happen this time. True the magazines will run probably run articles (or not) but they have limited space and then it will die down.

As I said, the opportunity for his personal input has been lost to me and that was my own fault however, there are many of you out there who know a lot about the man, the company and well, whatever!! I therefore ask of you for your input, the good or even not so good (nobody’s perfect), anything you can remember, pictures, in fact anything at all. I will co-ordinate it all into the Morley section of the Vintage RC helicopter web site for the memory to live on.

Hi,

After a couple of weeks of sadness, im now a happy guy. After purchasing a GP Exhuast for my ys 56, I found that it wasnt a nice sounding exhaust like i had been told. After hearing the long version it sounded very smooth and very quiet (Compared to some). Problem was i was told that both the long and short pipes were the same! Diffinately not the case. The short pipe is lound and harsh. After discovering this, i approached midland and they was aware of the problem but, wouldnt let me exchange the pipe for a long one. Not very fair really! smilie

HOWEVER,

I AM NOW REALLY HAPPY AS MAT AT MIDLAND, HAS KINDLY REMOVED HIS OWN PIPE FROM HIS PERSONAL HELICOPTER AND GIVEN IT TO ME AS GP PIPES ARE NOT CURRENTLY AVAILABLE. I DONT KNOW WHY THE CHANGE OF MIND. BUT I AM VERY HAPPY WITH THE CUSTOMER SERVICE I GOT TODAY MANY THANKS.

P.S As i was in a good mood i treated myself to a little square futaba piece of shite that some may call a gyro smilie smilie smilie
